Trauma isn't only about what happened. It's also about what your mind and body learned to do to keep you safe. If you feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, or find it hard to even think about the past, you're not weak and you're not broken. Healing doesn't start with forcing yourself to relive anything.

Understanding trauma through the brain and body

Trauma affects more than memory. From a neuropsychological view, it can change how the brain detects threat, regulates emotion, and stores experiences. That's why trauma can show up as strong reactions, numbness, sleep difficulty, or feeling on edge without a clear reason. These responses make sense once we understand how the brain adapted. Understanding them is often the first relief.

Honoring the past while building a new way of being

Your past experiences are real, and your survival responses were doing a job. Therapy doesn't ask you to erase your history or give up what protected you. Instead, we acknowledge what happened, respect how you coped, and gradually build new ways of relating to yourself, your emotions, and other people.

How I can help

I use Brainspotting, a trauma-focused approach that works with where you hold and process difficult experiences in the brain and body. It can allow healing to happen without needing to tell every detail of your story, and we move at a pace that feels safe for you.

I offer trauma therapy in Mandarin or English, so you can express yourself in the language that feels most natural. With 15 years of experience as a therapist, I work with teens (13 and above) and adults across California, entirely online.

Frequently asked questions

How can I heal if I'm too afraid to talk about the past?

You don't have to start there. Early sessions focus on building safety, understanding your reactions, and learning ways to steady yourself. Approaches like Brainspotting don't require you to share every detail. You decide how much to say, and when.

Trauma helped me survive. Will healing make me weaker?

This is a very common worry, and an understandable one. Healing doesn't remove your strength. The goal is to keep what's protective, like your awareness and resilience, while loosening reactions that now cost you more than they help. Many people find they have more choice, not less protection.

I've tried many therapies and the trauma never fully goes away. How would I know this will work?

I can't promise a specific outcome, and no honest therapist can. What I can offer is a different approach, a collaborative pace, and regular check-ins about whether it's helping. The free consultation is a place to ask questions and see whether the fit feels right.

Do you offer trauma therapy in Mandarin?

Yes. Sessions are available in Mandarin, English, or a mix of both.
