Online Parenting Support in California

A child's cupped hands gently holding a butterfly, in black and white

You love your child, and you still wonder if you're doing this right. Almost every parent does. Parenting advice often sounds confident and one-size-fits-all, but real families, real children, and real situations rarely fit the template. You don't need a perfect parent. You need an approach that works for your family.

A parenting style built around your situation

Instead of cookie-cutter parenting rules, we work together to develop the approach that fits you: your values, your child's temperament, your family's circumstances, and the challenges you're facing right now. What works for another family may not work for yours, and that's okay.

Passing on your values while honoring who your child is

Most parents want to hand down the values and traditions that matter to their family, and also want their child to become their own person. Those two goals can pull against each other, especially across generations or cultures. In sessions, we look for the balance: what you most want to preserve, where there's room to flex, and how to stay connected while your child grows into their individuality.

Practical skills for your child's developmental journey

Children's needs change as they grow, and so do the skills parents need. Together we build specific, practical tools for the stage you're in, such as responding to big emotions, setting limits calmly, and keeping communication open. You leave sessions with things you can try that week.

How I can help

My work is collaborative, not judgmental. We start with your goals, understand what's happening in your family, and practice approaches that feel natural to you. My approach centers on accepting emotions as part of us, for parents and children alike.

I offer parenting support in Mandarin or English, so you can express yourself in the language that feels most natural. With 15 years of experience as a therapist, I work with parents across California, entirely online.

What to expect

Frequently asked questions

How do I know what's normal and what's not when raising my child?

Children develop at different speeds, and a wide range of behavior is normal. Pay attention to changes that last for weeks or get in the way of daily life, such as sleep, eating, mood, school, friendships, or safety. If you're unsure, a consultation can help you decide whether to keep watching, try new strategies, or involve your child's doctor or school.

How do I raise a confident child?

Confidence tends to grow when children get age-appropriate chances to try, struggle, and recover, with a parent who stays warm and steady. Praising effort over results, letting your child's feelings be heard, and modeling how you handle your own mistakes all help. We'll work out what that looks like for your child's age and temperament.

How do I get my child to respect me and still like me?

These goals aren't opposites. Children tend to do best with both warmth and clear, consistent limits. Your child may be upset when you hold a boundary and still feel loved and secure. Therapy can help you set limits calmly, stay connected afterward, and build respect that grows from trust, not fear.

Do you offer parenting support in Mandarin?

Yes. Sessions are available in Mandarin, English, or a mix of both.
